Courses in Research Methodology
Over the past few years I have some in-house training courses in research methodology, covering techniques such as preference mapping, repertory grid technique, means-end chain theory and laddering, conjoint analysis, experimental choice analysis, best-worst scaling and other scaling techniques. These have been build around case-studies and active learning components, and accompanied by detailed how-to notes for future reference. Inter-twinned with the ‘how-to’ methodology focus, case studies show how the techniques can be used to address common and important research questions. Please contact me if you want to know more.
I expect that training in research methodology can benefit most of us, but particularly, I consider it important for PhD candidates. I am working to become involved in PhD training courses and have a vision to work for such courses becoming affiliated with the major conferences in our field. I am really excited about this. Imagine: helping the future generations of researchers develop their skills through such courses, establishing a forum that gets them up and close with experts in the field, while at the same bringing them together with their peers to form networks of value for their future careers. |
